A year after meeting CM Yogi Adityanath, Kanpur’s divyang girl Khushi Gupta has received medical treatment, education, and a brighter future. Her family has also been provided a free e-rickshaw for sustainable livelihood.
Khushi’s Journey from Struggle to Hope
The Uttar Pradesh government has helped transform the life of 19-year-old divyang girl Khushi Gupta from Kanpur, who once walked to Lucknow seeking help from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. What began as an appeal for support has now resulted in comprehensive assistance, including medical treatment, education, and a permanent source of income for her family.
Family Receives Free E-Rickshaw for Livelihood
In a major step towards ensuring the family’s financial stability, Kanpur District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh handed over the keys to a new e-rickshaw to Khushi’s father, Kallu Gupta, at the Collectorate premises.
The e-rickshaw was provided free of cost by NRJ Electric Motor Vehicle Private Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The vehicle has been registered in the name of Khushi’s mother, Geeta Gupta, providing the family with a stable and dignified source of livelihood.
Medical Treatment and Education Restored Hope
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, Khushi underwent a cochlear implant surgery in February 2026, significantly improving her hearing ability. She has also been receiving regular speech therapy and has started speaking.
To continue her education, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities enrolled her in Class 9 at the Integrated Special Secondary (Residential) School in Lucknow.
Emotional Gratitude from the Family
Receiving the new e-rickshaw, Khushi expressed her gratitude by saying, “Thank you, Yogi Ji.” Her mother said the family no longer worries about medical treatment, education, or earning a livelihood, adding that government support has given them a new beginning.
Government Focus on Self-Reliance
District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said the administration acted on the Chief Minister’s clear instructions to ensure Khushi’s complete rehabilitation. He emphasized that the government’s objective extends beyond financial aid and focuses on making families self-reliant while enabling them to live with dignity.
