Pune: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has called on people to adopt a natural lifestyle and live closer to nature, emphasizing the importance of India’s traditional healing systems such as Yoga and Ayurveda.
Addressing the 81st anniversary celebrations of a naturopathy ashram run by the Naturopathy Gram Sudhar Trust at Uruli Kanchan near Pune, the Vice President said that India’s ancient wellness practices have gained global recognition and should not be viewed as secondary to modern healthcare systems.
He highlighted that Yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy contribute significantly to both physical and mental well-being, encouraging people to incorporate natural healing practices into their daily lives.
Referring to the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Radhakrishnan noted that the Father of the Nation promoted natural living and naturopathy nearly eight decades ago through dedicated wellness centers focused on holistic health.
The Vice President also expressed concern over changing dietary habits and increasing dependence on allopathic medicines, stressing the need for preventive healthcare and healthier lifestyles rooted in nature.
He further stated that the government led by Narendra Modi has strengthened the Ministry of AYUSH to promote and expand traditional systems of medicine across the country and internationally.
During the event, Mr. Radhakrishnan also released a book titled Secrets of Happiness, authored by Dr. N. G. Hegde, highlighting the importance of holistic well-being and positive living.
The Vice President’s remarks come amid growing global interest in alternative healthcare, wellness practices, and natural methods of disease prevention.
