New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central Government have announced an extensive security framework for the upcoming NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, aiming to ensure a fair, transparent, and malpractice-free testing process.
The re-examination comes amid heightened scrutiny over exam security and concerns related to the integrity of the earlier test conducted in May. Officials said the enhanced arrangements are designed to restore confidence among candidates and strengthen the credibility of India’s largest medical entrance examination.
Three-Tier Security at Exam Centres
Authorities have implemented a three-layer security system at examination centres across the country and overseas locations. More than five lakh security personnel are expected to be deployed to monitor examination activities and prevent unauthorized access.
Candidates will undergo multiple levels of screening at entry points, with security checks being carried out by trained personnel and local law enforcement agencies.
The examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM across 551 cities in India and 14 international cities.
Advanced Technology for Monitoring
The NTA will use biometric verification, facial recognition technology, and high-definition CCTV surveillance to enhance transparency and prevent impersonation.
Live monitoring of examination centres will reportedly be carried out through a centralized control room, allowing authorities to respond quickly to any suspicious activity or security concerns.
Officials are also monitoring digital platforms and social media channels to identify misinformation campaigns and fake claims related to question paper leaks.
Strict Question Paper Security
To prevent any possibility of paper leaks, authorities have adopted stringent confidentiality measures for question paper preparation and distribution.
Experts involved in drafting, reviewing, and translating examination content have reportedly been placed under secure isolation, with restricted access to communication devices and internet services.
Additional safeguards have also been introduced for the transportation and delivery of question papers to ensure secure handling throughout the process.
Over 22 Lakh Aspirants Expected
Officials stated that the extensive security arrangements are intended to provide a level playing field for more than 22 lakh medical aspirants expected to appear for the re-examination.
Candidates have been advised to regularly check official notifications regarding admit cards, examination centres, and procedural guidelines as the examination date approaches.
The NTA is expected to issue further updates in the coming days while continuing efforts to maintain examination integrity and public trust in the assessment process.
