Lucknow, May 31: The Uttar Pradesh Government has officially appointed senior IPS officer Rajeev Krishna as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. An official order confirming his permanent appointment was issued on Saturday. Rajeev Krishna had been serving as the Acting DGP following the retirement of former DGP Prashant Kumar.
A 1991-batch IPS officer, Rajeev Krishna brings over three decades of policing and administrative experience to the state’s top police post. Before taking charge as Acting DGP, he served as Director General of Vigilance and held key responsibilities in the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.
Widely recognized within the police force for his disciplined leadership and result-oriented approach, Rajeev Krishna has held several important field and headquarters assignments during his distinguished career.
A native of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Rajeev Krishna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Throughout his career, he has served in multiple districts and specialized police units across Uttar Pradesh.
His tenure as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Agra is particularly remembered for decisive action against organized crime syndicates and kidnapping gangs, earning him recognition for effective law enforcement.
With extensive experience in police administration, vigilance operations, recruitment reforms, and field policing, Rajeev Krishna is expected to focus on strengthening law and order, enhancing police modernization, and advancing institutional reforms within the Uttar Pradesh Police.
His appointment comes at a crucial time as the state government continues efforts to improve policing standards and public safety across Uttar Pradesh.
