New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid out an ambitious roadmap for Viksit Bharat by 2047 during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, placing technology, youth, manufacturing, energy security and self-reliance at the centre of India’s development strategy.
A key feature of the speech was ‘Shakti Ki Saptadhara’, a seven-point development framework covering manufacturing, agriculture and food processing, technology and innovation, connectivity and infrastructure, defence production, green energy and the Blue Economy, and India’s soft power.
1 Crore Youth to Get AI Training
PM Modi announced a major artificial intelligence skilling programme under which one crore young Indians will receive AI training. He also announced free online coaching for competitive examinations, with the aim of expanding opportunities for students and young job seekers.
Big Push for Semiconductors
Highlighting India’s growing technology ambitions, the Prime Minister said semiconductor production has already begun at three facilities and that seven to eight additional plants are planned. The move is aimed at strengthening domestic chip manufacturing and reducing dependence on overseas supply chains.
100 GW Nuclear Power Target
Energy security was another major focus. Modi set a target of achieving 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047, alongside a broader push for domestic energy production and strategic self-reliance.
The Prime Minister’s address presented technology-led growth, stronger manufacturing, youth empowerment and energy independence as key pillars of India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
