The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at five locations across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi as part of its investigation into a cyber-terrorism case linked to attempted attacks on Indian government websites during Operation Sindoor.
The searches were carried out at Junnar in Pune, Nadiad in Kheda, Ramagundam in Karimnagar, Gopalganj and Delhi. The case was initially registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and was later taken up by the NIA. The case was registered on June 25, 2025.
According to the NIA, the accused allegedly attempted sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks against 54 websites belonging to Government of India entities during Operation Sindoor. The targeted systems included critical computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure (CII). Investigators said the alleged attacks were intended to disrupt services, compromise national security and create public fear.
Two accused have already been arrested in connection with the case. During the investigation, NIA’s technical analysis reportedly identified additional suspects who allegedly provided assistance, technical support and preparation to those accused of carrying out the attacks.
During Monday’s searches, investigators seized three laptops, five mobile phones, pen drives and other digital devices, along with documents and material allegedly linked to hacking activities. The suspects were also questioned about their connections with the arrested accused.
The NIA’s forensic examination of the seized devices is now expected to play a key role in determining the wider network and the exact nature of the alleged cyber activities. The investigation remains ongoing, and further action could follow based on the evidence recovered.
