Heavy rainfall continued to disrupt normal life across Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with several parts of the capital and neighbouring cities witnessing waterlogging, traffic congestion and weather-related disruptions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi, warning of further heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Gurugram and Faridabad were also placed under weather alerts as monsoon activity intensified across the region.
Several major roads and junctions in Delhi, including areas around AIIMS, ITO, Connaught Place, RK Puram and Parliament Street, experienced waterlogging following intense showers. Traffic movement slowed significantly as vehicles struggled through flooded stretches.
The situation was particularly severe in Gurugram, where heavy rain on Monday caused extensive waterlogging and traffic jams. The district administration advised corporate offices, government departments and educational institutions to adopt work-from-home and online-learning arrangements on August 25. The move was aimed at reducing traffic and allowing civic agencies to undertake drainage clearing, dewatering and road restoration work.
The disruption also affected air travel. Adverse weather conditions on Monday led to flight diversions and delays at Delhi airport, prompting airlines to issue passenger advisories. Delhi Airport said flight operations were continuing but asked travelers to check with their respective airlines before leaving for the airport.
Weather officials have warned that rainfall could continue across Delhi-NCR, with isolated heavy spells possible. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, remain alert in waterlogged areas and follow official weather and traffic advisories.
