Manage weight sustainably through balanced meals, regular activity, strength training and sleep—without detox teas, crash diets or unsafe shortcuts.
No tea, juice cleanse or single food can safely melt body fat. Sustainable weight management comes from repeatable habits that reduce excess energy intake while supporting nutrition, movement, sleep and mental wellbeing.
Build meals around vegetables, fruit, pulses, whole grains and a suitable source of protein. Protein and fibre can support fullness, making it easier to manage portions. Limit frequent sugary drinks and ultra-processed snacks without labelling individual foods as completely forbidden.
Healthy adults should generally aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week. Walking counts. Add muscle-strengthening activity on two or more days where appropriate, and start gradually if you are currently inactive.
Sleep also matters. Irregular or insufficient sleep can increase hunger and reduce motivation to exercise. Track progress using fitness, energy, waist measurements and health markers—not only the number on the scale.
Precautions
Avoid crash diets, dehydration methods, unregulated fat-burning supplements and prolonged extreme fasting. Rapid weight loss can increase the risk of nutritional deficiencies, muscle loss, gallstones and subsequent weight regain.
People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, underweight, living with an eating disorder or taking medicines for diabetes or blood pressure should obtain personalised medical advice. A doctor or registered dietitian can also help when weight changes are unexplained or when thyroid, hormonal or metabolic problems are suspected.
