Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed a comprehensive modernization of the state police training system, emphasizing the need for technology-driven, result-oriented and citizen-sensitive policing to strengthen public trust and improve professional efficiency.
Chairing a high-level review meeting on police training in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said that modern policing is no longer confined to maintaining law and order. It now requires expertise in cybercrime investigation, forensic analysis, communication skills, sensitivity and technical proficiency.
“UP Police should be equipped with modern technology, sensitivity and professional efficiency. The training system must be practical, transparent and aligned with present-day policing needs,” the Chief Minister said.
Focus on Technology, Sensitivity and Professional Excellence
CM Yogi directed officials to ensure quality, uniformity and transparency in police training while maximizing the use of advanced technologies across training institutions.
He stressed that police personnel should be trained not only in law enforcement but also in public communication, humane behaviour and balanced decision-making under stressful situations.
UP Police Tops iGOT Training Rankings
Officials informed the Chief Minister that under Mission Karmayogi, Uttar Pradesh Police has achieved a remarkable milestone on the iGOT portal.
As of May 27, 2026:
- 3,90,799 police personnel registered on the portal
- 59,02,703 courses completed
- UP Police ranked first in the country during Sadhana Week 2026
During the campaign, UP Police completed over 28 lakh courses, outperforming several state departments combined.
Additionally:
- 2,61,032 personnel completed over two hours of learning
- 2,16,724 personnel completed over four hours of learning
- 2,45,645 personnel completed AI-based training modules
Training Capacity Increased to Over 60,000
The Directorate of Police Training has significantly expanded infrastructure and resources.
Current training ecosystem includes:
- Police Academy Moradabad
- 11 training institutions
- 6 police training schools
- 2 armed police training centres
- 62 temporary and 31 permanent recruit training centres
Training capacity has increased from 18,000 to 60,244, with digital resources now accessible through the UP Police Training Portal.
Drone, Cyber Forensic and Simulator-Based Training Introduced
The Chief Minister was informed that advanced facilities are being integrated into police training, including:
- Drone training
- Cyber forensic laboratories
- Forensic science labs
- Driving simulators
- Firing simulators
- Smart classroom-based expert sessions
Operational mock drills and capsule courses will also be conducted by agencies including ATS, STF, NDRF, SDRF, RAF, UP-112 and Fire Services.
Special Behavioural Training for Police Personnel
In a major citizen-centric initiative, 5,816 police personnel facing complaints of public misbehaviour have been identified for special communication and behavioural training.
A dedicated programme developed with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, is focusing on:
- Respect towards women
- Communication skills
- Stress management
- Leadership qualities
- Sensitive behaviour
- Team coordination
International Recognition for UP Police Training
For the first time, a proposal is under consideration to train Sub-Inspectors of the Maldives Police Service at the UP Police Academy, Moradabad.
CM Yogi termed it a significant step toward strengthening India’s internal security cooperation with neighbouring nations.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure continuous innovation and accountability in the training framework to make Uttar Pradesh Police the best police force in the country.
