New Delhi: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi received a grand ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday as she began her official visit to India. The visit marks another important step in strengthening the long-standing strategic partnership between India and Japan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed his Japanese counterpart before the two leaders held bilateral discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, defence, technology, infrastructure, and regional security.
The ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan included a Guard of Honour, reflecting the significance of the India-Japan relationship. Senior Indian government officials were present during the welcome ceremony.
During their talks, both leaders are expected to review progress on key bilateral initiatives, including high-speed rail projects, semiconductor cooperation, clean energy, resilient supply chains, and economic partnerships. They are also likely to exchange views on regional and global developments in the Indo-Pacific.
India and Japan share a Special Strategic and Global Partnership, with both countries working closely on economic development, connectivity, maritime security, and emerging technologies.
The Japanese Prime Minister’s visit is expected to further deepen collaboration across multiple sectors while reaffirming the shared commitment of both nations to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
