Commercial LPG cylinder prices increased from October 1, while domestic rates remain unchanged. Check city-wise prices and the new Aadhaar e-KYC rules for LPG subsidies.
Prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders have increased across India from October 1, 2026, raising costs for restaurants, hotels, caterers and other businesses during the festive season.
The price of the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has not changed. However, a separate rule requiring Biometric Aadhaar Authentication for eligible domestic consumers seeking subsidised refills has also taken effect.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices From October 1
The increase varies between cities because LPG prices reflect transportation costs, international benchmark rates and foreign-exchange movements.
| City | September price | October price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi | ₹2,747.50 | ₹2,810 | ₹62.50 |
| Mumbai | ₹2,701 | ₹2,764 | ₹63 |
| Kolkata | ₹2,884 | ₹2,954 | ₹70 |
| Chennai | ₹2,916.50 | ₹2,983 | ₹66.50 |
| Patna | ₹3,029 | ₹3,100.50 | ₹71.50 |
| Lucknow | — | ₹2,932.50 | ₹62.50 |
| Leh | ₹3,385.50 | ₹3,450 | ₹64.50 |
| Ahmedabad | — | ₹2,831.50 | — |
| Kanyakumari | — | ₹3,046 | — |
| Tawang | — | ₹3,073.50 | — |
Patna recorded the largest confirmed increase among the cities listed, with the commercial cylinder becoming ₹71.50 costlier. Leh continues to have one of the highest retail prices because of transportation and distribution costs.
The revised rates are based on IndianOil listings and apply from October 1.
Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Unchanged
Households using standard 14.2-kg cylinders have not been affected by the latest commercial LPG price revision.
Current domestic cylinder prices include:
- Delhi: ₹942
- Mumbai: ₹941.50
- Chennai: ₹957.50
- Lucknow: ₹979.50
- Patna: ₹1,031.50
These are retail prices before considering any subsidy or benefit for eligible consumers.
Who Will Be Affected by the Price Increase?
The commercial LPG increase primarily affects:
- Restaurants and hotels
- Cafes and bakeries
- Street-food businesses
- Sweet shops and caterers
- Canteens and cloud kitchens
- Small food-processing units
- Other businesses using 19-kg cylinders
Businesses may face higher operating expenses during the festive season, when food preparation and commercial LPG consumption generally increase.
The price change does not directly increase the listed price of domestic 14.2-kg cylinders.
New LPG e-KYC Rule From October 1
From October 1, Biometric Aadhaar Authentication, or BAA, is required for eligible domestic LPG consumers who want to receive refills at the regulated retail selling price with the applicable subsidy.
The requirement applies to domestic LPG beneficiaries. It is not an e-KYC requirement for commercial 19-kg cylinder customers.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry said that approximately 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers—around 89.9% of the total—had completed authentication by September 19.
Consumers who have already completed biometric authentication do not need to repeat it.
Will LPG Delivery Stop Without e-KYC?
No. Failure to complete Aadhaar biometric authentication does not automatically stop LPG supply.
Consumers who are unable or unwilling to complete the process can still request LPG through their oil company’s digital channels. However, they will not receive the applicable subsidy and may be supplied 5-kg or 10-kg cylinders at the prevailing market price, subject to local availability.
Consumers who want to continue receiving eligible subsidised domestic refills should complete authentication before placing their next booking.
How to Complete LPG Aadhaar Authentication
Consumers have three main verification options.
During cylinder delivery
The delivery representative can complete authentication at the customer’s home through the official application of the oil-marketing company.
At the LPG distributor
Consumers can visit the showroom of their registered LPG distributor and complete biometric verification in person.
They should carry:
- Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number
- LPG consumer number
- Registered mobile phone
- Consumer booklet or connection details, if requested
Through official mobile applications
Consumers may complete self-verification through their provider’s application:
- Indane: IndianOil ONE
- Bharatgas: HelloBPCL
- HP Gas: HP PAY
Consumers should use only official applications or their authorised LPG distributor. They should never share an OTP, banking password or UPI PIN with an unknown caller.
Why Has the Government Introduced Biometric Verification?
The government says Aadhaar authentication is intended to:
- Ensure subsidised LPG reaches genuine consumers
- Detect duplicate or ineligible connections
- Prevent domestic cylinders from being diverted for commercial use
- Improve transparency in subsidy distribution
- Reduce fraudulent or inactive connections
Domestic LPG is sold below its underlying cost. The government said the implicit support was approximately ₹210 per 14.2-kg cylinder in September 2026, compared with about ₹721 in June, when international prices were substantially higher.
How to Check LPG e-KYC Status
Customers can check their verification status through the official portal or application of their LPG provider.
- Indane customers can sign in through IndianOil ONE and check their profile.
- Bharatgas consumers can use the HelloBPCL application or the official Bharatgas portal.
- HP Gas consumers can use HP PAY or the company’s official consumer portal.
- Customers can also contact their registered distributor directly.
If the status shows pending or incomplete, the consumer should finish biometric authentication through the application, delivery representative or distributor.
For LPG assistance, consumers may contact the national toll-free number 1800-2333-555. The LPG emergency helpline remains 1906.
