Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has launched the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority, marking a major reform in the state’s education system. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the new authority officially replaces the Madrasa Board from July 1, 2026, with the aim of providing equal educational opportunities to all notified minority communities.
The announcement was made during a programme at the Chief Minister’s residence, where Dhami also distributed recognition certificates to minority educational institutions and presented NCERT textbooks to students studying in minority schools.
Equal Education for All Minority Communities
Chief Minister Dhami said the newly established authority is designed to ensure that children from all six notified minority communities receive access to quality, inclusive, and modern education. He stressed that the reform aligns with the vision of “One Nation, One Education” and seeks to create a transparent and skill-oriented education system.
According to the Chief Minister, the new authority is not intended to interfere with the cultural or religious identity of any community. Instead, it aims to strengthen educational standards while allowing students to remain connected to their traditions.
Focus on Modern Skills and NEP 2020
Dhami highlighted that the initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes innovation, entrepreneurship, research, vocational training, and employment-oriented learning.
He said the state government is promoting digital classrooms, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, computer education, startup culture, and skill development to prepare students for future careers.
Beyond Recognition of Institutions
The Chief Minister said the Minority Education Authority will not merely grant recognition to institutions but will also oversee quality education, teacher training, transparency, and effective implementation of education reforms.
He urged educational institutions to focus on producing knowledgeable, responsible, and socially aware citizens capable of contributing to nation-building.
Inclusive Growth Through Education
Dhami reiterated that education is the strongest tool for empowering society and creating self-reliant citizens. He expressed confidence that the new authority would positively impact thousands of students and help Uttarakhand emerge as a leading state in inclusive and quality education.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Pradeep Batra and Umesh Sharma Kau, senior government officials, education experts, religious leaders from minority communities, and representatives of educational institutions.
