Washington/Tehran: Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated further as President Donald Trump and senior Iranian officials exchanged sharp warnings following a series of military strikes across the Middle East.
President Donald Trump accused Iran of delaying diplomatic negotiations and warned that Tehran would now face consequences for failing to reach an agreement with Washington. In a statement posted on social media, Trump claimed Iran’s military capabilities had been severely weakened and described the country as “all talk and no action.”
The remarks came shortly after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi vowed that Iran would respond to any attack or threat against the country. He asserted that Tehran would not leave military actions unanswered and claimed the United States had suffered setbacks during the latest confrontation.
US-Iran Military Exchange Intensifies
The latest escalation followed US military strikes on Iranian-linked targets after an American military helicopter was reportedly brought down in the Gulf region.
According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation targeted Iranian defense systems, radar installations, and ground-control facilities near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced strikes against multiple US military facilities across the region. Iranian officials claimed attacks were launched against American bases in Bahrain and Jordan, while Kuwaiti authorities reported intercepting incoming threats aimed at their territory.
Diplomatic Efforts Under Pressure
The exchange of attacks has placed ongoing diplomatic efforts under significant strain. Just a day earlier, Trump had expressed optimism about negotiations, suggesting that Washington and Tehran were close to reaching a favorable agreement.
However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the United States of undermining diplomatic progress through contradictory statements, changing demands, and repeated violations of ceasefire understandings.
Iranian officials said the recent military actions have forced Tehran to reassess the prospects for future negotiations, stressing that meaningful diplomacy requires stability and mutual trust.

The renewed confrontation has heightened concerns across the Middle East, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil-shipping routes.
