An Indian couple’s decision to relocate to Thailand has sparked widespread discussion on social media after they shared how the move significantly improved their quality of life despite paying rent comparable to major Indian cities.
In a recent Instagram post, Shreya and Amit explained that while India will always remain their home, living in Thailand has offered a different lifestyle experience marked by improved safety, reduced traffic congestion, and a better work-life balance.
The couple revealed that their rental expenses in Thailand are similar to those in Tier-1 Indian cities. However, they believe the overall lifestyle benefits make a noticeable difference in their daily lives.
“India will always be home. But after spending time in Thailand, we realised our day-to-day quality of life felt better. Rent costs us about the same as many Tier-1 Indian cities, but the lifestyle that comes with it feels very different,” they wrote.
Addressing concerns about convenience, the couple noted that Thailand may not offer ultra-fast delivery services similar to India’s Blinkit, but the widespread availability of convenience stores compensates for it.
“No, we don’t have 10-minute deliveries. But when there’s a 7-Eleven every few hundred meters, you rarely need them,” they said.
Shreya also highlighted personal safety as a major factor behind their positive experience, stating that she feels more comfortable walking alone at night without constantly being on alert.
The couple further emphasized the value of time, noting that less time spent in traffic has allowed them to enjoy more walks, work from cafes, and spend quality time together.
Their post quickly resonated with social media users. Many shared similar experiences and expressed interest in relocating to Thailand. One user commented that they had recently returned from Thailand but were still “mentally there,” while another revealed they had recently moved to Bangkok and felt encouraged by the couple’s perspective.
Others praised Thailand’s lifestyle, road-trip opportunities, and overall quality of life, though some admitted they would miss Indian food if they made a similar move.
The viral post has reignited conversations about lifestyle migration, with many professionals increasingly exploring destinations that offer a better balance between living costs, safety, and personal well-being.
