CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke called off his hunger strike after receiving assurance of a meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda. Activists say discussions will focus on their key demands related to healthcare and public welfare.
New Delhi: Citizens Justice Platform (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Monday ended his hunger strike after receiving an assurance that a delegation of activists would be given an opportunity to meet Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda (JP Nadda) to discuss their concerns.
The hunger strike had drawn support from activists and members of civil society, who gathered in the national capital to press for action on issues they described as being related to public welfare and healthcare. Following discussions with authorities, organizers announced that Dipke had decided to withdraw his indefinite fast in anticipation of constructive talks with the Union government.
According to CJP representatives, a delegation is expected to meet Health Minister JP Nadda to present a memorandum outlining their demands. The activists expressed hope that the meeting would lead to meaningful dialogue and concrete steps to address the issues raised during the protest.
Speaking after ending the fast, Dipke thanked supporters who had participated in the campaign and maintained that the movement would continue through democratic and peaceful means. He said the decision to call off the hunger strike was taken after receiving a positive assurance regarding engagement with the government.
The development comes after days of demonstrations and public mobilization by CJP supporters in Delhi. Security arrangements remained in place around the protest site, though the situation remained peaceful.
The outcome of the proposed meeting with the Health Minister is expected to determine the next course of action for the organization. Activists have indicated that they will continue to monitor the government’s response before deciding on any further agitation.
