New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) revealed that its Class 12 revaluation portal came under a major cyberattack attempt on Tuesday amid heavy student traffic, as thousands of candidates logged in to apply for re-evaluation of their examination results.
Despite the attempted disruption, the board confirmed that the portal remained operational and successfully processed thousands of applications.
Over 16,000 Students Submit Revaluation Applications
According to CBSE, more than 16,000 students had successfully submitted their revaluation requests by 3 PM on Tuesday.
The board stated that the portal is currently capable of supporting over 8,000 concurrent users in real time, helping manage the surge in demand following the activation of the Class 12 revaluation application process.
1.5 Million Hits Recorded Within Two Minutes
CBSE disclosed that the portal recently experienced a suspected Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack, a type of cyberattack designed to overwhelm online systems and disrupt services.
During the incident, the portal received approximately 1.5 million hits within just two minutes, indicating an unusually high volume of traffic.
In addition, the board reported that more than 100,000 attempts were made to gain unauthorized access to files and resources on the platform.
Technical Teams Monitoring the Situation
CBSE said its cybersecurity and technical teams are continuously monitoring the portal to ensure smooth functioning and prevent any disruption to student services.
The board emphasized that proactive security measures are in place to safeguard the platform and maintain uninterrupted access for students seeking re-evaluation of their marks.
Portal Upgraded Based on Student Feedback
The board also announced several improvements to the revaluation portal based on feedback received from students.
One of the key enhancements includes extending session time limits, allowing applicants more time to complete the process without facing automatic session expirations.
CBSE stated that ongoing upgrades are being implemented to improve user experience and streamline the application process.
Revaluation Process Continues Amid High Traffic
The Class 12 revaluation portal was activated earlier on Tuesday, prompting a large number of students to access the platform simultaneously.
As application numbers continue to rise, CBSE has assured students that all necessary support will be provided and that technical monitoring will remain active to ensure a secure and hassle-free experience.
The board urged students to remain patient during peak traffic periods and continue using official CBSE channels for updates related to the revaluation process.
