Lucknow: Commuters travelling between Lucknow and Kanpur are set to benefit from a major infrastructure upgrade as the Lucknow-Kanpur 6-lane Expressway is scheduled to be inaugurated on July 13.
According to official updates, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are expected to jointly inaugurate the much-awaited expressway, which is aimed at significantly reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion on one of Uttar Pradesh’s busiest road corridors.
The new expressway has been developed to provide faster, safer, and more efficient connectivity between Lucknow and Kanpur. Once operational, it is expected to improve the movement of passengers as well as commercial vehicles, boosting regional trade and economic activity.
The six-lane access-controlled corridor is equipped with modern road infrastructure, including service roads, improved safety features, drainage systems, and better traffic management facilities. Officials believe the project will also reduce fuel consumption and vehicle operating costs by enabling smoother traffic flow.
The expressway is part of the Centre’s broader push to strengthen India’s road network through high-speed corridors and enhanced connectivity. It is expected to support industrial growth, attract investment, and improve logistics across central Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities are completing the final preparations ahead of the inauguration ceremony, including safety inspections, road markings, signage installation, and finishing works to ensure the expressway is ready for public use.
Once opened, the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is expected to become one of the state’s key transportation corridors, offering commuters a quicker and more comfortable travel experience.
