Vivek Oberoi has supported Salman Khan’s stand against trolls who body-shamed Katrina Kaif over her postpartum appearance.
Vivek Oberoi has supported Salman Khan’s criticism of online trolls after the Bigg Boss 20 host defended Katrina Kaif against comments about her postpartum appearance.
Speaking during a recent interaction, Vivek described trolling as a negative activity and encouraged people to direct their energy towards constructive work.
“You shouldn’t troll anyone. There are so many positive things to do in life. Why indulge in negative things?” Vivek said, according to NDTV.
Salman Khan Defends Katrina Kaif
The discussion began after Salman used a Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20 to condemn people who targeted Katrina over changes in her appearance following pregnancy.
Salman said weight gain after pregnancy was natural and argued that Katrina should be allowed to spend time with her family without being subjected to public scrutiny. He added that she could focus on fitness whenever she decided to return to films.
The actor described such trolling as “dirty” and criticised the tendency to mock celebrities over their bodies, age, careers and personal lives.
Salman also addressed comments about his own age and appearance. He acknowledged being 60 and said audiences could not expect him to look the way he did during Maine Pyar Kiya throughout his life.
Paparazzi Photography Also Criticised
Along with social-media users, Salman criticised sections of the paparazzi for taking and circulating inappropriate photographs of female celebrities.
He argued that invasive camera angles and unflattering images are sometimes deliberately used to attract attention, encouraging further trolling.
Katrina faced online criticism after photographs and videos from a public appearance circulated on social media. Several actors and public figures, including Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar, subsequently spoke against the body-shaming of new mothers.
Parineeti described the scrutiny directed at women after childbirth as insensitive and said physical changes associated with creating and delivering a child should be respected instead of mocked.
Vivek’s response attracted additional attention because of his widely reported past conflict with Salman. However, his latest comments remained focused on opposing negative trolling and supporting a more respectful approach to public conversations.
