New Delhi : CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh has assured Central Reserve Police Force personnel of complete support while performing their duties, urging them to work without fear and promising to take responsibility for decisions made in the line of duty.
Speaking at the CRPF Decoration Ceremony, the Director General said that personnel deployed in operational battalions and law-and-order units should continue to discharge their responsibilities with confidence, provided their actions are taken honestly and in accordance with their official duties.
“Carry out your duties fearlessly. Wherever responsibility or accountability is required, I will accept it as the Director General,” Singh said while addressing the force.
Remarks Come Amid Pellet Gun Controversy
The DG’s statement comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged use of pellet guns by personnel of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), a specialized unit of the CRPF, during protests over the NEET paper leak at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
The incident has sparked political debate and public scrutiny over the crowd-control measures adopted during the demonstrations.
CRPF Defends RAF Personnel
According to CRPF officials, an internal assessment conducted after the incident concluded that RAF personnel followed all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and prescribed protocols during the police action against protesters on July 20.
The force maintains that the personnel acted in accordance with operational guidelines while assisting local authorities in maintaining law and order.
Leadership Reaffirms Confidence in the Force
The CRPF leadership emphasized that personnel should remain focused on protecting national interests, public safety, and maintaining peace without hesitation. Officials said the assurance from the Director General is intended to strengthen the morale of troops serving in challenging operational environments.
The Rapid Action Force, a specialized wing of the CRPF, is trained for riot control, crowd management, and handling civil disturbances, while the CRPF continues to play a key role in counter-insurgency, anti-Naxal operations, and internal security across India.
