Bhopal: The investigation into the mysterious death of Twisha Sharma has entered a crucial phase, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) preparing to conduct a reconstruction exercise using an 80-kg dummy to verify the claims made by the accused.
According to sources, the CBI will take Twisha Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, back to their Katara Hills residence in Bhopal, where Twisha was found hanging on May 12. The agency aims to recreate the sequence of events surrounding the alleged suicide and examine whether the statements of the accused match the physical evidence collected from the crime scene.
During questioning, Samarth Singh reportedly told investigators that he had brought Twisha down from the noose, while Giribala Singh allegedly untied the knot around her neck. To verify these claims, investigators will use an 80-kg dummy, approximately matching Twisha’s body weight, and ask the accused to demonstrate their actions.
The reconstruction will help investigators assess whether Samarth Singh could have physically lowered the body in the manner described and whether Giribala Singh’s account of removing the ligature is consistent with the evidence.
The CBI will also test the strength and durability of the belt allegedly used by Twisha Sharma to hang herself. Officials are expected to examine whether the belt could withstand the weight and conditions described by the accused.
Giribala Singh was arrested by the CBI after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail, overturning the relief granted by a Bhopal sessions court on May 15. Both Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh have been remanded to CBI custody until June 2.
Sources indicate that investigators will initially question the two separately before conducting a face-to-face interrogation to compare and corroborate their statements.
The agency has also focused on several critical aspects of the case, including Twisha Sharma’s reported pregnancy and the injuries allegedly found on her body. These factors are being examined to determine whether there was any foul play involved.
Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills locality. Following her death, her family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and demanded a thorough investigation.
Earlier, the CBI had conducted an extensive forensic examination at the residence with the assistance of a specialized team from Delhi. The team carried out photography, videography, evidence collection, and detailed questioning of Samarth Singh regarding the events leading up to Twisha’s death.
The reconstruction exercise is expected to play a significant role in establishing the accuracy of the accused’s version of events and could provide crucial insights into one of Madhya Pradesh’s most closely watched death investigations.
