Spotify has introduced three major new features for Premium subscribers, making playlist management and music discovery easier than ever on mobile devices.
The music streaming giant has announced a global rollout of new Premium tools designed to improve playlist organization, customization, and listening experiences on the go.
Playlist Folders Finally Arrive on Mobile
One of the most requested Spotify features has officially made its way to smartphones. Premium users can now create and manage playlist folders directly within the Spotify mobile app, eliminating the need to use the desktop version for playlist organization.
The update allows users to group related playlists into folders, making it easier to organize collections such as workout playlists, travel music, study sessions, or favorite podcasts.
Bulk Edit Playlists With Ease
Spotify has also enhanced playlist editing capabilities on mobile devices. Users can now bulk edit playlists by selecting and moving multiple songs, podcast episodes, or audiobooks at once.
The feature streamlines playlist management and gives listeners greater control over organizing their content without manually adjusting each item individually.
New Reshuffle Button for Android Users
Android Premium subscribers are receiving an exclusive new “Reshuffle” button designed to refresh shuffled playback instantly.
Located within the play queue, the one-tap feature generates a new randomized listening order without requiring users to turn shuffle mode off and on repeatedly.
iPhone Users Get Background Downloads
Spotify has also expanded functionality for iOS users by introducing background downloads for music and podcasts. The feature, which was already available on Android, allows content to continue downloading even when users switch apps or lock their devices.
Global Rollout Underway
Spotify confirmed that all four updates are rolling out globally to Premium subscribers. However, availability may vary by region and account, meaning some users could experience a short delay before receiving the new features.
The latest update reflects Spotify’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience and simplify content management across mobile platforms as competition in the music streaming market continues to intensify.
