Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney has taken her adventurous side to new heights after performing a dramatic wing-walking stunt on a flying biplane, drawing immediate comparisons with action superstar Tom Cruise.
The 28-year-old Euphoria actress shared footage on August 24 showing herself secured to the aircraft while it performed turns and rolls. Wearing protective goggles and a safety vest, Sweeney remained strapped to the plane as it even sent her upside down during the flight.
Sweeney Sends Playful Challenge to Tom Cruise
Sweeney heightened the buzz by captioning her video “watch out tom cruise,” an obvious reference to Cruise’s reputation for performing spectacular aerial stunts himself.
The comparison is particularly fitting because Cruise performed an elaborate wing-walking sequence for 2025’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, during which he worked on a Stearman biplane for the film’s aerial action.
Sweeney’s experience was organized by The Wing Walk Company in the UK, which praised the actress following her flight. The stunt was conducted with Sweeney attached to the aircraft using safety equipment rather than being an unrestrained movie stunt.
‘Top Gun’ Reacts to Viral Stunt
The video quickly attracted attention online, and even the official Top Gun Instagram account joined the conversation with a playful reaction referencing the franchise’s famous “need for speed” line.
The stunt adds to Sweeney’s increasingly action-oriented public image. She has previously shared footage of adventurous activities including bungee jumping, helicopter rides and water sports, while her portrayal of boxer Christy Martin also required extensive physical and combat-sports training.
Hollywood Career Continues to Expand
Beyond the viral aerial adventure, Sweeney remains busy across film and television. Her recent work includes The Housemaid, while she also returned for the final season of HBO’s Euphoria.
For now, the biplane stunt appears to be an adrenaline-fuelled adventure rather than confirmation that Sweeney is preparing for a specific action movie.
