Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is reportedly preparing to enter the superhero genre with an ambitious new film from filmmaker duo Raj & DK, marking their first collaboration. Current reports indicate that the untitled project is being targeted to begin filming in January 2027.
Salman Khan to Play a Different Kind of Superhero
Rather than presenting Salman as a conventional larger-than-life superhero, reports suggest the film will feature him as a weary or ageing crime-fighter, giving the genre a more grounded treatment. The project is expected to combine Raj & DK’s distinctive storytelling style with Salman’s action-star persona.
The collaboration would be significant for both sides. Salman has headlined numerous action blockbusters but has not previously led a full-fledged superhero franchise, while Raj & DK are known for mixing action, humour and unconventional characters.
January 2027 Shoot Planned
The latest reports say the makers are aiming to take the film on floors in January 2027, with preparations expected to intensify toward the end of 2026. Pre-production is already reported to be underway.
Before moving to the superhero project, Salman is expected to complete his existing commitments. He is currently working on Vamshi Paidipally’s SVC63, co-starring Nayanthara, and is also scheduled to host Bigg Boss 20, which is set to premiere on September 6. Reports suggest around 50 days of filming remained on SVC63 as of August 25.
Casting Still Under Discussion
Several important details remain unconfirmed. Reports indicate that the script is still being finalized, while the female lead has yet to be officially locked. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s name has surfaced in speculation surrounding the project, but no confirmed casting announcement has been made.
With Salman exploring a new genre and Raj & DK bringing their established action-entertainment sensibility, the project could become one of Bollywood’s most closely watched productions of 2027. For now, however, details including the official title, complete cast and theatrical release date remain awaited.
