Rockstar Games has released an extended preview of Grand Theft Auto VI, giving players the most detailed official look yet at its gameplay, protagonists and open-world setting ahead of the game’s November launch.
The nearly 27-minute presentation premiered on Netflix before being released on Rockstar’s website and official YouTube channel. Rockstar confirmed that the entire showcase was captured from the PlayStation 5 version of the game.
Jason and Lucia Take Centre Stage
GTA 6 follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, two criminals forced to depend on each other after a seemingly straightforward robbery goes wrong. Their journey draws them into a wider criminal conspiracy spanning the fictional state of Leonida.
Jason is described as a former Army recruit who later began working for drug runners in the Leonida Keys. Lucia, the franchise’s first female lead in a modern mainline GTA game, is determined to change her life following a period in prison.
The preview focuses heavily on the pair’s relationship, showing them planning jobs, escaping police and navigating Vice City’s criminal underworld. Rockstar’s official character lineup also includes Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, the Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder.
First Extended Look at GTA 6 Gameplay
The footage combines cinematic storytelling with scenes of shootouts, high-speed police pursuits and exploration across Vice City and the wider Leonida map. Optional activities shown in the presentation include basketball and scuba diving.
The showcase also highlights crowded beaches, nightclubs, swamps, highways and urban neighbourhoods, suggesting that Rockstar is aiming to create a more densely populated and reactive open world. Social-media clips and exaggerated online personalities again appear to play a role in the series’ satire of American culture.
Rockstar describes GTA 6 as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series. However, the studio has not yet fully explained every gameplay system or detailed its plans for the game’s online component.
GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar currently describes it as a single-player experience, and pre-orders are already available. A PC version has not been officially announced.
Digital buyers will be able to preload the game beginning November 12. Pre-orders and purchases made before November 20 will also include the Vintage Vice City Pack, featuring bonus items inspired by the city’s neon-soaked past.
With its dual protagonists, highly detailed recreation of Vice City and expanded open-world activities, the latest preview has significantly raised expectations for one of the gaming industry’s most anticipated releases.
