Mumbai, June 22, 2026: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded increased compensation and educational support for the family of a carpenter who died while working on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love & War.
Carpenter Chandradhari Singh Yadav reportedly suffered a fatal electric shock during the film’s shoot in the early hours of June 17. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Confirming the incident, FWICE President BN Tiwari said filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has already provided ₹40 lakh in compensation to the bereaved family. However, the film workers’ body is seeking an increase in the amount to ₹50 lakh.
FWICE has also urged Bhansali to take responsibility for the education expenses of Yadav’s two children, ensuring long-term support for the family.
Worker’s Death Raises Safety Concerns
The tragic incident has once again brought workplace safety standards in the film industry into focus. FWICE is expected to continue discussions with the production team regarding additional assistance and measures to prevent similar accidents on film sets.

Love & War marks the first collaboration between Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The film reportedly revolves around a complex love triangle involving two officers, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, while Alia Bhatt’s character finds herself caught between love and duty.
The project also marks Ranbir Kapoor’s reunion with Bhansali after making his acting debut in Saawariya.
The highly anticipated film is among Bollywood’s biggest upcoming releases and has generated significant buzz since its announcement.
