India’s Asian Games 2026 medal tally reached 56 after two compound archery gold medals, an LA 2028 quota and Priya Ghanghas’ boxing bronze.
India strengthened its Asian Games 2026 campaign on September 30 by winning two compound archery gold medals, taking its live medal count to 56.
The archery success lifted India to eight gold medals and kept the country inside the top 10 of the standings. India had ended the previous day in 10th position with six gold, 21 silver and 25 bronze medals.
Indian Women Defend Compound Archery Title
India’s women’s compound archery team successfully defended its Asian Games crown by defeating China in the final.
The Indian archers produced an exceptional performance and matched the world-record score during their victory. The result delivered India’s first gold medal of the day and demonstrated the country’s growing strength in compound archery.
Chikitha and Sahil Secure Gold and LA 2028 Quota
Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav then defeated South Korea in a tense compound mixed-team final.
The scores were tied at 157-157 after four ends, forcing a shoot-off. India won the decider 20-19 to claim its second archery gold of the morning.
The victory also earned India a quota place for the mixed-team compound event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where the discipline will make its Olympic debut. It is India’s first confirmed LA 2028 quota from the Asian Games.
Priya Ghanghas Wins Boxing Bronze
Indian boxer Priya Ghanghas added a bronze medal to the country’s tally. Her podium finish followed the two archery titles as India continued to collect medals across multiple sports on Day 12.
India’s women’s squash team has also secured at least a medal, while the women’s sepaktakraw quadrant team registered a straight-sets group-stage victory over Vietnam.
Neeru Dhanda and Relay Team Lead Day 11 Surge
India entered September 30 after winning eight medals on the previous day.
Shooter Neeru Dhanda captured the women’s individual trap title, becoming India’s first individual gold medallist at these Games. The Indian women’s 4×400-metre relay team also won gold, while the men’s relay team claimed bronze.
Gulveer Singh earned bronze in the men’s 5,000 metres, completing an impressive three-medal campaign. India finished the athletics programme with 24 medals—one gold, nine silver and 14 bronze.
More Indian Medals Expected
India remains in contention across squash, wrestling, hockey, boxing and archery.
The women’s hockey team is scheduled to face South Korea in the semifinal, while the men’s cricket team will play Sri Lanka in the last four. India advanced after rain washed out its quarterfinal against Afghanistan.
The medal tally remains live and may change as further events are completed on September 30.
