A car allegedly chased and struck a woman biker on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road. Police have registered an FIR and deployed three teams to find the driver.
Gurugram: A woman motorcyclist was injured after a car allegedly chased and struck her sports bike on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road, triggering widespread concern over road safety and harassment.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 13, when the rider, identified as Sia, was travelling with a group of bikers. According to her account, a white sedan began following the group and repeatedly moved close to her motorcycle.
Sia alleged that the car’s occupants became aggressive after she asked them to maintain a safe distance. She also claimed that they appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. These allegations have not yet been independently established.
Collision Captured on Camera
Footage recorded during the ride reportedly shows the car following the bikers before moving sharply into Sia’s path and colliding with her Aprilia RS 457.
The impact threw her onto the road, while her motorcycle was dragged for several metres. The car allegedly left the scene without stopping to assist her. A fellow biker pursued the vehicle and confronted its driver at a traffic signal, but the motorist denied responsibility and drove away, according to the rider’s account.
Sia sustained injuries in the collision. Fellow riders said her protective gear helped prevent more serious harm.
Gurugram Police Register FIR
After the footage circulated widely online, Gurugram Police took suo motu cognisance of the incident. An FIR was registered at Sector 56 Police Station for alleged rash driving, even though police had initially not received a written complaint from the woman.
Police said the suspected driver had been identified through the vehicle’s registration details. Three teams were deployed to locate him, and searches were being conducted at places linked to the accused. Investigators also contacted the vehicle’s registered owner.
Officials said the rider would be included in the investigation and that further legal action would depend on the evidence collected. The viral episode has renewed calls for stricter action against dangerous driving and for improved protection of women travelling on Gurugram’s roads.
