New Delhi: Former BJP national president Murli Manohar Joshi has welcomed the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling it a case of “better late than never.” He also congratulated students for conducting a peaceful movement and expressed hope that the development would lead to meaningful reforms in India’s education system.
In a post on X, Joshi said he hoped the Prime Minister would take timely decisions to strengthen the education sector and create better opportunities for young people.
‘Better Late Than Never’: Joshi
Reacting to Pradhan’s resignation, Joshi said the move could help restore stability in the education system.
He praised students for concluding their agitation peacefully and expressed optimism that the country’s education sector would now move towards reforms and provide a brighter future for the youth.
CJP Ends 37-Day Protest
Joshi’s remarks came after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) officially ended its 37-day protest following the third round of talks with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
The Centre later assigned Pralhad Joshi additional charge of the Ministry of Education following Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
CJP Urges New Education Minister to Implement Reforms
CJP chief spokesperson Saurabh Das said the movement had demonstrated that young people across the country would continue to demand accountability from governments.
He urged the new Education Minister to:
- Prevent future examination paper leaks.
- Implement the organisation’s five-point education reform charter.
- Continue dialogue with student representatives.
According to Das, the government has agreed to hold another round of discussions within the next month to review long-term education reforms.
Government Accepts Key Demands
CJP leaders claimed the Centre accepted several major demands, including:
- Withdrawal of FIRs filed against protesters.
- Assurance that no new cases will be registered against participants.
- Compensation for families of students who allegedly died by suicide in connection with examination-related issues.
- Continued discussions on broader examination and education reforms.
Normalcy Returns After Protest Ends
Following the withdrawal of the agitation:
- Mobile internet services around Jantar Mantar were restored.
- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) resumed normal operations across all metro stations.
- Public movement in the protest area returned to normal.
Sonam Wangchuk Welcomes Development
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose prolonged Gandhian-style protest became a focal point of the movement, described the developments as a “victory for democracy.”
He urged students to remain peaceful and continue working towards long-term reforms in India’s education and governance systems.
With the protest now concluded, attention is expected to shift to the Centre’s promised reforms and the next round of discussions between the government and CJP.
