Yash is set for a major big-screen comeback as Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups prepares for its worldwide theatrical release on August 26, 2026. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the gangster-action drama has generated strong pre-release buzz and is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s biggest openings of the year.
The film marks Yash’s first theatrical release since the blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2. He also serves as a producer on Toxic, further increasing expectations around the ambitious project.
Advance Booking Signals Huge Demand
Ticket sales have accelerated ahead of release. One recent update reported more than 6.39 lakh tickets sold across 14,104 shows in India, generating an advance-booking gross of about ₹24.27 crore at that stage. Hindi and Kannada versions were leading the domestic advance sales.
Demand has also prompted exhibitors to schedule shows at unusual hours. Reports indicate that Mumbai cinemas have added screenings as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 11:45 p.m., reflecting strong interest ahead of opening day.
Yash Leads Star-Studded Cast
Toxic features a large ensemble alongside Yash, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Yash plays Raya, while Advani appears as Nadia and Nayanthara as Ganga.
The film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC, positioning it as a mature gangster drama rather than a conventional family entertainer. Reports also indicate a runtime exceeding three hours.
Massive Opening Expected
With Yash returning after KGF 2, an extensive multilingual rollout and strong advance sales, trade expectations for opening day are high. Some industry estimates are projecting a ₹100–120 crore worldwide opening, although these figures remain forecasts until official box-office numbers arrive after release.
The August 26 release will now determine whether the extraordinary pre-release excitement translates into another major pan-India box-office success for Yash.
