Hollywood actor Tom Hardy has not been fired from MobLand, despite widespread reports suggesting his exit from the hit crime drama.
According to insiders, discussions regarding Hardy’s future on the show are still ongoing, and the actor could return for a potential third season.
A source told Variety that while tensions did arise during production, claims of Hardy being removed from the series are inaccurate.
“Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively,” the source reportedly said.
What Happened Between Tom Hardy and MobLand Producers?
Reports suggest that tensions on the set of MobLand Season 2 stemmed from multiple production-related issues.
According to insiders, Hardy was allegedly late to set on several occasions, reportedly leaving cast members including Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren waiting for extended periods.
One source claimed the actor sometimes remained in his trailer for hours, creating delays during filming.
Sources also alleged that Hardy frequently offered script notes and requested dialogue changes during production, sometimes without prior approval.
However, insiders also defended the actor, noting that many of his creative suggestions were often valid and came from his commitment to the role.
“Often his ideas are very sound, and he wants them taken seriously,” a production source said.
Script Delays Added to On-Set Tension
Sources close to production revealed that Hardy was reportedly frustrated by scripts being delivered just days before filming.
The actor is known for his intense preparation process and reportedly prefers significant time to study scenes and develop character nuances.
This lack of preparation time is believed to have contributed to his dissatisfaction during filming.
Was There a Fallout With Helen Mirren?
Speculation of a political or personal feud between Hardy and Helen Mirren has been strongly denied by insiders.
While Mirren was reportedly frustrated by delays on set, sources insist there was no serious conflict.
One insider said Mirren occasionally urged Hardy to move things along but was never openly hostile toward him.
Not the First Time Tom Hardy Faced On-Set Reports
This is not the first time Tom Hardy’s behaviour on set has drawn attention.
During the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road, director George Miller acknowledged tensions between Hardy and co-star Charlize Theron.
Hardy’s Star Trek: Nemesis co-star Patrick Stewart had also previously described him as reserved and solitary.
Insiders say Hardy’s behaviour is less about malice and more about his tendency to become deeply immersed in his work.
What Is MobLand and Who Does Tom Hardy Play?
MobLand premiered in 2025 on Paramount+ and quickly became one of the platform’s biggest crime drama successes.
The show stars:
- Pierce Brosnan
- Helen Mirren
- Tom Hardy
Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, a sharp and ruthless fixer working for a powerful British crime family.
The series was co-created by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth, while Guy Ritchie serves as executive producer and directed several episodes.
Season 2 has already wrapped filming, while Season 3 is expected to begin production later this year if renewal plans move ahead.
