Jerusalem: Israeli security forces have launched a large-scale manhunt following a series of shooting incidents near the occupied West Bank that left one person dead and at least six others wounded, according to Israeli authorities.
Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), reported that a man in his 30s was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds near the community of Tzur Natan. Another victim at the same location was evacuated in serious condition.
MDA also confirmed that two additional men, aged approximately 50 and 30, were treated after a shooting at a petrol station near Kochav Yair. A separate victim in Tzur Yitzhak suffered injuries to his hand during the attacks.
The Israeli military stated that troops were deployed to the areas of Sal’it and Tzur Yitzhak following reports of multiple shooting incidents. Security forces later located a vehicle believed to have been used in the attack.
According to the Israeli army, police units searching the area engaged and killed one suspect believed to be involved in the shootings. Israeli police later confirmed that the deceased suspect was an Arab-Israeli citizen.
Reports from local media indicate that authorities are continuing to search for at least one additional suspect believed to have fled the scene. The ongoing operation has prompted heightened security measures across the region.
Reacting to the attack, Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for harsh punishment against those responsible. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Ben-Gvir said any suspect captured alive should face the death penalty, adding that Israeli authorities would seek the full implementation of the law.
The shootings come amid heightened regional tensions linked to the broader conflict involving Israel, Iran, and armed groups across the Middle East. Investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the attacks remain ongoing.
