India is strengthening its focus on preventing lifestyle-related diseases by promoting Ayurveda, Yoga and traditional medicine globally, Ambassador Arindam Bagchi said during a health event in Croatia.
India Pushes Lifestyle Disease Prevention
India is intensifying efforts to tackle the growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases by promoting preventive healthcare through its traditional medical systems, including Ayurveda and Yoga.
Speaking at an event in Croatia, India’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Arindam Bagchi, highlighted that the country is committed to addressing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension and heart ailments through a holistic healthcare approach.
Bagchi said India’s traditional wellness practices have gained international recognition for focusing on prevention rather than treatment alone. He noted that integrating healthy lifestyles, balanced nutrition, physical activity and evidence-based traditional medicine can play a significant role in improving public health outcomes.
The ambassador also emphasized India’s continued support for global cooperation in healthcare and wellness. He pointed to the country’s initiatives aimed at promoting Ayurveda and other traditional medical systems on international platforms, while encouraging research and collaboration in preventive healthcare.
Lifestyle diseases have become a major global health challenge due to changing dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles and increasing stress levels. Indian authorities believe that combining modern medicine with preventive wellness practices can help reduce the long-term burden of these chronic illnesses.
India has been actively promoting Yoga, Ayurveda and holistic wellness through various international partnerships and public health campaigns, aligning with its broader vision of improving global health through sustainable and preventive healthcare solutions.
