Chennai: Tamil actor Ajith Kumar returned to Chennai from Dubai on Saturday following the demise of his mother, Mohini Mani, who passed away at the age of 89 after prolonged health-related complications.
As the actor and his family mourned the loss, several prominent personalities from the Tamil film industry and political circles visited Ajith Kumar’s residence to pay their last respects and offer condolences.
Among those who visited the actor’s residence were Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay, along with actress Trisha Krishnan.
Videos circulating on social media showed Vijay arriving at Ajith Kumar’s residence amid tight security arrangements. In one of the widely shared clips, Vijay was seen warmly embracing Ajith Kumar before entering the house to meet the grieving family and express his condolences.
Actress Trisha Krishnan was also seen visiting the residence to offer her support to the bereaved family.
Mohini Mani Passed Away Peacefully
According to a statement released by Ajith Kumar’s family, Mohini Mani passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning after a period of declining health.
The family, in an official note, said, “Our mother, Mohini Mani, passed away early this morning in her sleep after a period of declining health. She was 89. We are grateful for the care and support provided to her and our family by medical professionals over the last few years.”
The statement was jointly signed by Ajith Kumar, Anup Kumar and Anil Kumar.
Family Requests Privacy
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time and informed that the final rites will be conducted as a private family affair.
In the statement, they urged people to respect their wish to grieve quietly while remembering Mohini Mani for her dignity, strength, and grace.
