Bigg Boss 20 begins with a grand premiere as Salman Khan returns as host and welcomes Kanika Mann, Aasif Khan, Mary Kom and other contestants.
The landmark 20th season of Bigg Boss officially began on September 6, 2026, with a star-studded grand premiere featuring Salman Khan as the returning host.
Salman opened the premiere with an energetic performance set to some of his popular songs before welcoming the new group of contestants. Television actor Kanika Mann became the first participant introduced during the launch episode and subsequently entered the Bigg Boss house.
The season brings together personalities from television, cinema, sports and digital media. Among the contestants introduced during the premiere were actor Kanika Mann, Panchayat fame Aasif Khan and celebrated Indian boxer Mary Kom. Rhiti Tiwari, daughter of Bhojpuri actor and politician Manoj Tiwari, was also promoted as one of the season’s participants.
This year, the programme has adopted a digital-first release strategy. New episodes stream on JioHotstar at 9 p.m., followed by their television broadcast on Colors TV at 10:30 p.m.
The redesigned Bigg Boss house reportedly covers approximately 10,000 square feet and is equipped with 104 cameras. Art director Varsha Jain has designed the new set, which features imaginative interiors and several animal-inspired decorative elements.
The grand premiere also featured Salman’s trademark humour and interactions with the participants. While introducing the contestants, he discussed their backgrounds, expectations and strategies for surviving the challenges inside the house.
With a diverse contestant lineup, audience-driven decisions and new twists promised by the makers, Bigg Boss 20 is expected to deliver intense competition, alliances, conflicts and entertainment throughout the season.
