Yash’s much-awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups continues to command attention at the Indian box office, although its spectacular opening was followed by a sharp decline on the second day. The Geetu Mohandas directorial entered Day 3 on Friday, August 28, 2026, within striking distance of the ₹150-crore India net milestone.
Toxic Opens Above ₹100 Crore in India
The gangster action drama registered an estimated ₹101.10 crore net in India on its opening day, giving Yash another massive pan-India opening after the success of the KGF franchise.
The film was released on August 26 across multiple languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and English. Yash leads an ensemble cast featuring Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.
Day 2 Collections Drop Sharply
Despite its extraordinary opening, Toxic experienced a substantial slowdown on Thursday.
Box-office trackers differ slightly on the final Day 2 number. Sacnilk’s updated page lists ₹37.65 crore net, taking the two-day India net total to approximately ₹138.75 crore.
Other reports, including India Today and Moneycontrol, cite a Day 2 estimate of ₹36.40 crore, which would put the two-day domestic net collection at approximately ₹137.50 crore.
The difference reflects the preliminary and evolving nature of box-office tracking. Final producer figures can also differ from independent estimates.
Worldwide Collection Crosses ₹190 Crore in Some Estimates
Internationally, Toxic has also posted significant numbers.
India Today reported a worldwide gross of around ₹190.75 crore after two days, including approximately ₹164.50 crore gross from India and ₹26.25 crore from overseas markets.
Sacnilk’s updated figures are somewhat lower, placing the worldwide two-day gross at approximately ₹185.60 crore.
Meanwhile, the film’s producers had announced a ₹150-crore-plus worldwide opening-day gross, illustrating the differences between producer-reported figures and independent box-office trackers.
Hindi Version Leads Day 2 Business
Hindi emerged as the strongest contributor on the second day. According to India Today’s figures, the Hindi version generated approximately ₹23 crore, while Kannada contributed ₹8.50 crore. Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam added roughly ₹3 crore, ₹1.50 crore and ₹0.40 crore respectively.
Kannada nevertheless registered the strongest occupancy rate at around 51% on Day 2, while overall occupancy dropped considerably compared with opening day.
₹150 Crore India Net Milestone in Sight
The major question on Friday is whether Toxic can officially cross ₹150 crore net in India during its third day.
Live tracking reported by The Times of India indicated that the movie had already moved beyond the ₹140-crore India net level during Friday’s early reporting, leaving ₹150 crore as its next major domestic milestone.
Because Day 3 collections are still being accumulated, any Friday total published during the day should be treated as provisional rather than the final collection.
Strong Opening, But Day 2 Fall Becomes Key Test
The second-day decline is now the biggest issue facing the film’s box-office trajectory. India Today estimated that collections dropped roughly 64% from Day 1 to Day 2, alongside decreases in show count and overall occupancy.
The film’s performance over Friday and the upcoming weekend will therefore be important in determining whether the huge opening translates into sustained theatrical momentum.
