Kareena Kapoor shares her approach to healthy ageing, highlighting strength training, nutritious food, movement and a balanced lifestyle over anti-ageing treatments.
Mumbai: Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has sparked a fresh conversation around healthy ageing, fitness and body confidence after sharing her views on why she prefers focusing on nutrition, movement and strength rather than constantly trying to look younger.
Speaking at the launch of nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar’s book The Common Sense Diet, Kareena said ageing should not be treated as something that needs to be fought. Instead, she emphasised preparing the body for different stages of life through healthy food choices, regular physical activity and strength-building exercises.
Kareena’s Approach to Ageing
Kareena’s message represents a broader shift in the way wellness and ageing are being discussed. Rather than focusing exclusively on weight loss or cosmetic treatments, she highlighted the importance of overall fitness and physical strength.
The actor has previously spoken about combining different forms of exercise, including yoga, Pilates, cardio and strength training. Her fitness trainer has also described weight training as an important part of her routine.
Kareena has also maintained that enjoying food can be part of a balanced lifestyle. She has spoken about traditional Indian foods such as ghee and khichdi, while stressing that healthy living should not necessarily mean following restrictive diets. Her approach centres on moderation, regular movement and understanding what works for the individual.
Why Strength Training Matters
Strength training becomes particularly important as people get older because maintaining muscle strength supports mobility, balance and everyday physical independence. Current Indian clinical guidance also recommends appropriate resistance and weight-bearing exercise for maintaining bone health, along with balance exercises to help reduce fall risk.
Kareena’s fitness routine has included regular weight training, with her trainer previously saying that she trained with weights multiple times a week and combined it with high-intensity workouts.
Nutrition and Fitness Go Together
A sustainable approach to healthy ageing is not about one particular food, exercise or celebrity routine. Adequate nutrition, regular physical activity, sleep and recovery all contribute to long-term wellbeing.
Kareena’s comments also underline an important point: fitness goals can change with age. Instead of chasing a particular body size or trying to reverse ageing, the focus can shift towards maintaining strength, mobility, energy and confidence.
For people considering a new exercise or nutrition programme, individual needs vary, and professional advice can be useful—particularly for those with existing health conditions.
