Avengers: Endgame Encore adds new Loki, Hulk, TVA and Doctor Doom scenes that connect the 2019 blockbuster directly to Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios has brought its 2019 blockbuster Avengers: Endgame back to cinemas as Avengers: Endgame Encore, an expanded edition containing new footage that leads directly into Avengers: Doomsday.
Released in theatres on September 25, the new version features a special introduction, an extended ending and additional mid- and post-credit sequences. The material brings Doctor Doom, Loki, Bruce Banner and the Time Variance Authority into the story surrounding the Avengers’ final battle against Thanos.
Marvel previously confirmed that the re-release would arrive before Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to open on December 18, 2026.
Spoiler warning: The following sections discuss the reported new scenes in Avengers: Endgame Encore.
Loki Visits Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter
The original Endgame concluded with Steve Rogers travelling back in time and finally sharing a dance with Peggy Carter.
In the revised ending, the couple reportedly receives an unexpected visitor: Loki, dressed in his Time Variance Authority uniform. His appearance suggests that Steve’s decision to remain in the past may have created or destabilised a branched timeline.
The scene connects Endgame with the events of the Disney+ series Loki, in which the former villain becomes responsible for protecting the multiverse.
TVA Detects a Multiverse Collapse
Another new sequence reportedly takes place inside the Time Variance Authority and features Mobius, Casey, Ouroboros and Miss Minutes.
The TVA detects two Earth-like realities moving towards a collision—an event known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as an incursion. More universes then begin colliding, indicating that the wider multiverse is collapsing.
Reports suggest that one of the realities could be connected to the X-Men universe, although the complete significance of the sequence is expected to be explained in Avengers: Doomsday.
Doctor Doom Confronts Bruce Banner
A credits sequence introduces Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom into Bruce Banner’s story.
Banner is shown working on a treatment intended to control his Hulk transformations when Doom reaches his secure facility. Bruce transforms into the Hulk, but the scene ends before revealing what happens during the confrontation.
The sequence establishes Doom as a threat capable of directly targeting some of the MCU’s most powerful heroes. It also raises questions about whether Hulk will fight alongside the Avengers—or be manipulated by Doom—in the forthcoming film.
Iron Man Sound Reworked as Doctor Doom Tease
The original Endgame credits included the sound of Tony Stark hammering together his first Iron Man armour, serving as a tribute to the film that launched the MCU.
Endgame Encore reportedly adds images of Doctor Doom creating his metal mask to the familiar sound. The sequence draws a deliberate visual connection between Tony Stark and Victor von Doom without confirming that Doom is an alternate version of Iron Man.
The casting connection is particularly important because Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark throughout the Infinity Saga, is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
Russo Brothers Ask Fans to Avoid Spoilers
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo encouraged viewers not to reveal the new scenes before other fans have an opportunity to see them in cinemas.
The filmmakers described the theatrical response to the original Endgame as one of the most emotional experiences of their careers and said they wanted a new generation—particularly viewers who had only watched the film at home—to experience it with a cinema audience.
The new footage transforms the re-release from a simple anniversary screening into a narrative bridge between the Infinity Saga and Marvel’s developing multiverse conflict.
Avengers: Doomsday, also directed by the Russo brothers, is expected to unite characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and other MCU teams against Doctor Doom.
