Our Review Process
When News Encase receives a correction request, our editorial team may review the original sources, official statements, documents and other reliable information relevant to the claim.
If we determine that a material factual error occurred, we will aim to correct the article.
Types of Changes
Factual Corrections
Material errors involving names, dates, locations, statistics, quotations or other factual information may be corrected after verification.
Clarifications
An article may be clarified when the original wording is technically accurate but could create a materially misleading or incomplete impression.
Updates
Breaking and developing news may change after publication.
Adding newly available information to a developing story is generally considered an update rather than a correction unless the earlier information was inaccurate.
Minor Edits
Spelling, grammar, formatting and other minor edits that do not materially change the meaning of an article may be corrected without a separate correction notice.
Transparency
For significant factual corrections, News Encase may include a correction or update note explaining what was changed.
We do not intend to silently alter material facts in a way that misleads readers about the original reporting.
Article Removal
News Encase generally prefers correcting inaccurate information rather than deleting an entire article.
Removal may be considered in exceptional circumstances, including serious legal, privacy, safety or copyright issues.
Requests for removal will be evaluated individually.
