Mumbai: Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has suffered a serious knee injury while shooting an intense action sequence for filmmaker Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama. The actor was reportedly injured during the final phase of filming in Mumbai and was taken to Fortis Raheja Hospital in Mahim for treatment.
According to the latest reports, Aaryan has already undergone knee surgery in Mumbai. Earlier reports had said that doctors were preparing to perform the procedure after assessing the severity of the injury. He is expected to take a few days of complete rest before returning to his professional commitments.
The accident reportedly occurred while Aaryan was filming demanding action sequences for Kabir Khan’s untitled sports drama. The production was reportedly only days away from completing its schedule, with crucial action scenes remaining to be filmed. The injury has temporarily brought the production to a halt.
The upcoming film marks Kartik Aaryan’s second collaboration with Kabir Khan after their 2024 sports drama Chandu Champion. Reports indicate that Aaryan plays a kickboxing coach in the new project, which is inspired by the story of young athlete Tajamul Islam. The project is also significant for the actor as he is making his debut as a producer through his production banner, Dopamine Studios.
Kartik’s injury comes shortly after a major milestone in his career. The actor recently shared the Best Actor honour at the 72nd National Film Awards for his performance as Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar in Chandu Champion.
Following his recovery, Aaryan is expected to resume his other film commitments, including his upcoming project with filmmaker Anurag Basu, which stars Sreeleela. His recovery period could lead to temporary changes in his shooting schedule, although reports suggest that the break is expected to be relatively short.
As of August 19, there has been no detailed official statement from Kartik Aaryan’s team regarding the nature of the injury or his complete recovery timeline. Fans and colleagues are now awaiting further updates on his health and return to the sets.
